I agree with your Sean Bean choice for Lupin!!! Now all we need is a time turner for Rickman and we're set :D I'm not familiar with Thewlis outside of the HP films, but can think of at least five people who would have been a better fit for the role - its also disheartening to know he never really bothered to read the books. Rickman as he is now fits in well with the adults whom the film people have made older than I imagined them being... My absolute favorite casting in the movies though is Jason Isaac as Lucius Malfoy - partially because he's pourd over the books and brought a character, who I would have otherwise dismissed, to my complete and undivided attention. And het's OMG!!!SO!HOT!!!
I've only seen Thewlis in a few things outside of Harry Potter but I really do think he's a pretty good match for Lupin... Just not after the design/make-up department turned him into a 5"3", slightly portly insurance salesman with a ridikulus wig!. ^__^
I agree with your comments about Rickman!Snape. He does fit the role better with all the adult characters being cast that bit older. He's certainly one of the best cannon matches.
I do love Jason Issac as LM, which is hard because I hate LM as a character! I love that he's given a certain element of campness and flair to the role without him being a pantomime vilain.
I haven't seen Event Horizon, but googled it, looked at pictures of him and now its at the top of my Netflix queue!!! And yes I will be stalking the mail person until it shows up at my door... But yeah, he's SUCH a brilliant actor - I didnt really care one way or the other about LM before. He just went in the Bad Guys category and I really didnt care - but now! And I dont know if I've told you this before, but when I went to see the first film I went from being completely appalled about Rickman (okay before you get on a plane for the sole purpose of killing me painfully, I have to say that I'd never heard of him before this film) to nearly fainting from shock in a millisecond. The voice that I gave Snape in my brain as I read the books matched his - EXACTLY. It was creepy for a second and then it was just HOT!
I hope it arrives soon! I should warn you though, its a bit gory at points -and scary. You may hide behind the sofa, but oh the pretties! (by which I mean, tiny, TINY, little shorts :D)
Have you seen any of Rickman's other films? If you havent seen 'Truly, Madly, Deeply' I really recommend that too! Though when I watched it at age 15 it made me cry for 12 hours straight... teenage hormones y'know. *cough* *Sniffle*
Man, what's wrong with me? I keep reccommending depressing films!
