A/N: This episode aired tonight on 11 and it got me thinking and this story came to be. Enjoy and please feel free to comment.

Sitting in her chair, at the Isis Foundation, Chloe couldn’t help but stare at her now blank finger. The man from the jewellery shop had opened her eyes in more ways than one. To show the sham that would have been her marriage, to allow her a chance to get out, she felt like she should be grateful to that man. But now she had to go home to an apartment only filled with Lois and that made her sad.
Turning as the door opened she was glad for the distraction, as long as it didn’t come in the form of Clark. Smiling as Oliver entered the room she turned back to her computers.
“Hey,” he said, “I hope you don’t mind. I just needed to find something in the JL files.”
Chloe nodded before grabbing her coffee cup and climbing off the chair. Turning on the coffeepot she asked, “What are you looking for?”
“A file,” Oliver replied, turning to look at her, “Where’s your ring?” he asked, motioning at her finger.
“Generally when you break off an engagement you give back the ring, no matter how cheap it is.”
Oliver sighed, “Oh Chloe what happened?”
Chloe laughed, “Surely you were told about the crazy guy stealing engaged couples.”
“That explains Lois and Clark’s sudden need to be engaged.” Oliver replied with a laugh of his own.
“Well he was kidnapping couples who were going to marry to ensure that they weren’t making a mistake. He went on and on about honesty and lies destroying your partner and I realised that I would never share some of the biggest secrets I keep, even if the person the secret was surrounding allowed me to.”
“My secret and Clark’s,” Oliver said, sitting down.
“Amongst others. There’s AC, Bart, Dinah, Victor, the JL. Last year when you sent me the boxes with your files I changed the locks so that he wouldn’t have a key. I know it’s ridiculous but I want to be with someone who I don’t have to constantly lie too. Someone who understand all of me and why I need to do what I do for you.”
“And Jimmy isn’t that guy?”
“No, Jimmy is defiantly not that guy. I see that now. Maybe it’s time I stop looking for normal, huh?”
“You’re not the only one,” Oliver replied with a shake of his head, “I almost died in this office.”
“I know I was here for it.”
“Well after that I decided that I wouldn’t let life pass me by anymore. I wouldn’t let love pass me over. So I did something I regret.”
“And that’s why you came here,” Chloe said with a nod before pouring two cups of coffee. Handing one to him she sat down, “Ok tell counsellor Chloe what you did.”
“You know Tess Mercer?” Oliver asked.
“Tell me you didn’t have sex with the Lex wannabe,” Chloe demanded.
“Well that would be lying.”
“Why, Oliver? Just... why?”
“I hurt her pretty bad, once upon a time. I wanted to make it right. To prove to myself that I was a better person and I somehow got in my head that to do that I’d have to be with Mercy again I could do that.”
“Oliver...”
“No Chloe, don’t try and make me feel better. I don’t even know what had gotten into me. I was just so determined to prove I’m a good person but it feels like I made another bad decision.” Oliver sighed, “I just want to be the man my parents could be proud of, especially now.”
“What’s this really about Ollie?”
“A couple of weeks ago I discover that Lionel killed my parents,” Oliver whispered, “It completely destroyed me.”
“Which explains the drinking,” Chloe said giving a slight nod, “But Oliver you are someone your parents would be proud off. Your defiantly someone I’m proud off and that doesn’t come easy my friend.”
“Well it doesn’t feel like that sometimes.”
“Ok, when you’re ready to get off the pity train, I have a proposition for you.”
“What kind of proposition?” Oliver asked, raising his eyebrow.
“Not that kind your thinking off,” Chloe replied, standing up and smacking him in the arm, “The rest of this building just went up for sale and I was thinking you could buy it.”
“And why would I do that?”
“I was thinking it could become a permanent base for JL. At least until you find something else. We could turn the top floor into bedrooms for the team and the second floor into a gear floor, any research could be done in here.”
Oliver nodded, “Well I’ll have to check out the rest of the building.”
“Then by all means check.”
“I’m not promising anything,” Oliver said standing, “I’ll drop by soon with an answer.”
“Or you could just drop by to chat.”
“Or I’ll do that,” Oliver replied, kissing her check gently before leaving.

5 months later.

“Ok finishing touches are done to Bart’s room, the boxing ring has been set up and your targets are in place but I’m sure that you’ll move them when you see them.” Chloe said as Oliver entered Isis.
Oliver had become a permanent fixture around Isis for the last few months as the renovations had taken place. Not that she had complained. She liked the friendship that they had created over the past few months. She could honestly say that she never felt closer to anyone and she hoped he felt the same way about her. When she had suggested that the whole building should be turned into a headquarters she hadn’t realised how much work that it would take. The construction crew had left a week ago and she had spent that time putting together rooms for when Oliver finally came back into town. He’d been out of town on business so Chloe had taken the time to pull together a surprise for him.
Oliver laughed at her attitude, “I’m sure I will move them, but to determine that you’re going to have to show me.”
“Fine,” Chloe sighed, “If you insist.”
Leading him up the stairs she decided to show him his surprise first. Walking to the end of the corridor she pointed at the door.
“Open it.”
Smiling as he moved forward she waited for his reaction. He didn’t disappoint. Walking back into the hallway, his jaw looking like it would detach and hit the floor, he grabbed her arm and pulled her into the room. Looking around she smiled at her handiwork. The room was painted green, decorated with pictures of Robin Hood and his merry men. There was a trim had bows and arrows on it. It was every archers dream room, the room she knew he had wanted since he was a boy.
“Why?”
Chloe shrugged, “’Cause you deserve it. Do you like it at least?”
“Are you kidding?” Oliver asked, “I love it. I always wanted my room to look like this.”
“I know that’s why I did this.” Chloe said, rubbing a hand up and down his arm, “I just wanted to give it to you.”
“Thank you,” Oliver whispered, “Thank you so much. But you realise I have a room in my penthouse, across town.”
“I know but it doesn’t hurt to have this back up.”
“No it doesn’t. It’s doesn’t hurt that your pretty amazing either,” Oliver said with a nod, before hugging her close. “Thank you.”
“I’m just glad that I could do it,” Chloe whispered, “Now do you want to see the rest of this place?”
“In a moment,” Oliver replied, pulling back before placing his lips on hers gently.
“I think I can wait a moment,” Chloe said before pulling him down for another kiss.

The end.
