OOC: FYI, chat logs being nuked in 5.0.4

Aug 24, 2012 15:06

From WoW Insider.

Basically, if you've been logging anything in WoW from chats to combat logs and want to keep them, save a copy somewhere else that isn't your WoW installation path because the patch is going to be blowing those files away.

Hey, thanks for the heads up. By logs do they mean screenshots? I'm not actually sure what logs are.

Chat logs are when you've typed /chatlog or use a logging addon like WOWScribe to save what shows up in your chat window to a text file on your computer. Mine gets saved to my WoW installation path, in the folder called Logs. It's called WoWChatLog.txt for me, yours may be something else.

But it doesn't sound like you've been logging stuff so I think you'll be alright. Still, I'd back up your WoW folder just in case something happens to go pear shaped come Tuesday.

Ahhh, yeah no. I don't use a logging addon. /whew
Thanks for the info. I save all my MRPs in Word so at least they're safe, but I'll back up my screenshots.
