I am in my mid-twenties and I totally play the remember when game. I do feel a little ridiculous doing it, but we all feel the same way about the past - aka. when I was young and interesting. Of course, at the time I am sure I did not find it too thrilling but it sure seems exciting now. I think it all started for me when I had my baby girl. ( Read more... )

I feel that way too, all too often these days. I think mine started about 2.5 years ago, just before getting married and moving to DC. The move took a lot out of me, in truth. Every now and then, I try to reclaim some of my youth, but I don't see any of my youthfulness in anyone I know around here except Becca. And then there is the kid factor... Recently, I've gotten back on the writing kick, and that helps a lot. It's something that I really want to do, stimulates a vibrant part of myself and gives me something to look forward to beyond working and paying bills. I DO try to spend a lot of quality time with Asher and Becca. I don't want to downplay that at all, but there still needs to be something that is ME that stays young and full of wonder, too. Money is a big thing; working 60 hours a week is another. How many excuses do we need to rid ourselves of to feel like we can drink from the nectar of life again?
