For a few weeks before Christmas I moaned and complained to people that I wanted a sewing machine. Apparently my mother, who cant buy me a gift I'd like even if I left her bread crumbs of clues, was listening and went out and bought me this fancy Singer machine

hahaha someting similar happened to me too.
I wanted to lear how to knit and my mom bought me everything. I couldn't do a single thing, I had books but it didn't work lol

My mom knows how to sew and so she gave me her old sewing machine. I have no inclination to sew or even to learn how. So after years of hanging onto the sewing machine I got rid of it. Then my mother comes to visit and keeps asking about sewing some things for me. I made excuses a few times like its 'In the Attic' - but then I finally had to fess up that I gave it away to Goodwill. Boy was she mad!!
