Oh wow, that's just amazing. Isabella is a really hard character to nail down emotionally because she's so protean, but you've done a great job of it. I'd like to think that she and Guy had that final moment of connection before he died.

The last bit is supposed to be Isabella's dying thoughts after the castle has collapsed, right?

Correct! I have to think she had just as much capacity for regret as Guy; I would hope that in her final moments she would have allowed herself some honesty.

This is so mesmerizing. I really like the way you interweave Izzy's stream of thoughts with her brushing her hair - the repetition of the motion underscoring the way she is tortured by the same living nightmare over and over. And the ending is really wonderful!
