PENN STATE

Finally, after five hours, PSU won the Orange Bowl.
Triple overtime is awfully tough on the heart and it was a well fought game on both sides, but I'm so glad that's over.
Congrats, boys! I'm proud of you.

I don't claim to understand (or like) football, but why on earth does it take 5 hours to play?

It doesn't usually, that's why the game was so exhausting.
A televised game usually runs around 3 to 3 1/2 hours because of commercials and the extended half time. There were three overtime periods in this game which dragged it out to 1am.
By the end, a lot of the Florida players were dropping on the field after each of the last few plays from exhaustion and muscle cramps. Every one of them fought hard on both sides and really gave it everything they had.

hmmm... I'm too used to my first half of 45 minutes, a 15 minute break, and a second half of 45 minutes for a game that's 1.5 hours long and television broadcast of about 2 hours.

I simply don't get this "football" thing. *shrugs*

but hey, if you enjoyed it, that's what matters.

cancelled Japanese today since I feel like roadkill and need to finish the packing. With any luck, I'll feel better by the time we have to go out and pick up the car tonight.

Not sick, just really sore.
Messed up my shoulder yesterday and all the rain and warm weather here is conspiring to torment my sinuses.
Just need some meds and a good night's sleep and I'll be good to go tomorrow morning.

It was a real nailbiter of a game and I feel bad for the players. They really left everything they had on the field. It was exhausting enough to watch, I don't know where they found the energy to keep going.
