That's what they called part two of our three part storm here in the DC area, snowpocolypse. Part three is lovingly referred to as "snow over it" and they aren't kidding ( Read more... )

*hugs* A friend who has a townhouse in the same complex as ours lost power for half a day, and a couple of miles down the road is a major street that's been closed since Saturday because of fallen power lines, but somehow we've been good. I figure the power will go out some random day when I'm in the middle of a really good movie or something to make up for it. >.<

Glad to hear you're doing okay! Where did you get the kotatsu?

I had some packages delayed a few days because of the post office not being able to get to our mailbox (no clue why they didn't leave it at the front door, though).

We've had a kotatsu for three years, but it's a small one. We bought it at a local shop that has since gone out of business. Found a larger version of the same one online at a estore out of LA called Marukai and ordered it a month ago. If they had shipped it on time it would have made it here long before the storms but I had to threaten to take back the money to get them to finally get around to shipping the thing. I hope after all that silliness the table is in good working order when it arrives.
Glad you guys managed to keep warm and powered up.
*hugs back*

I remember you buying the first kotatsu from a local store that was going out of business, I was wondering about the store that you ordered the new one from.

We're tired of shoveling, but otherwise we're just fine. Being forced to stay at home for a few extra days isn't so bad and it makes you get a little more creative in the kitchen.

In a recent article I read about the snow in your area -- I believe they called it "snowmageddon."

Too bad your kotatsu didn't make it in time. I bet Dippy-chan would've liked it just fine.

Stay warm, stay safe, and I hope you get some sunshine your way soon to melt some of the stuff down to a decent level. *hugs*

Snowmageddon is a good name for it too. *laughs*

Dippy and her daddy have been hogging our old kotatsu and I've been relegated to the couch. Our old square one just isn't big enough for both of us to sit at comfortably, especially with our laptops. Since he's been having to work from home and needed the room, I've let him have it and she scoots onto the edge of the nice warm quilt to nap next to him. It's just too cute for words.
I expect once the new, larger one arrives we'll have a nice warm snap that will last until this fall.

I really should have left a post sooner to let folks know we were okay. Hope you are having a nice month.

That snow just needs to stop. Glad to hear you've still got power and that you're staying warm and safe. Hopefully your roads will be clear and passable and the sun will come out and melt some of that snow!

CT totally freaked out about it in our area and shut everything down. ...while a whole inch of snow fell.

Things are melting slowly, which is good because flooding would really stink, but the icing is a bit scary. Hubby's good to go with the truck, but I'll probably stay put for a few more days until the neighborhood roads improve.
An inch? Really? Were they expecting a bunch of snow and it just didn't make it that far?
Glad to hear you guys didn't get the dumping we did. Snow is pretty in proper quantities, but...

Staying home when it's that bad out, when you can, is a great idea. We were supposed to get between 3 and 8 inches in our area, they even shut things down and hub's work closed down. I laughed every time I saw the OMGSNOW! warnings. Sure enough, one inch of snow.
