Pachelbel rant

For anyone who's ever played cello, or any instrument even, I dedicate this comedian's rant to you: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JdxkVQy7QLM.

This song has special meaning for me because Randi owned several versions of this song on a CD and we used to play it before going to bed.  Yes, we sometimes played classical music before sleeping, I know, ( Read more... )

My favorite part is the Johann part. "I don't even know his first name. It's probably Johann. They're all named Johann." Man, cracks me UP.

As soon as he said "I don't even know his first name" I said "Johann" almost aloud.

Yes, you and Randi are very cute.

Down with the second violins!
(although technically, since it's a canon, the firsts and seconds should have identical notes--played two measures apart. But whatever.)

Yeah, yeah, *grumble*.

"Even the second violins get really lovely melodies, which just shouldn't happen." Hee.

I remember that CD... I'm afraid that once you arrange a song that long and repetitive for piano, at least if you have the equivalent to my limited skill set... you're doomed to have a little pain in that song for ever and ever. It was/is a nice arrangement though, too bad I never wrote it out anywhere...

I get the feeling you probably have lots of songs/arrangements you've never written down, which is just a tragedy.

And just as a side note, I really miss singing Madrigals songs with you. I get a little nostalgic for it occasionally.

Well, Beni's here now, so if you were here, we could sing... what's that one? Confitemini Domini? But you're not. Darn. We just need to have madrigal conference calls. Os Justi Altos, you and me, man! Are you still signing?

What tragedy is this of which you speak? I think you highly overestimate my musical abilities? Really they aren't worth writing.

I sing by myself, if that's what you mean. I got a call to audition for a choir in Boston, but I was in Missouri and never could have made it back in time.

Somehow Os Justi works no matter what parts are present. It's great.

But see, even if they aren't worth writing down, now you wish you had. Huh, huh? *nudge nudge*
