Dusting Off openCanvas

Hamachi is a networking client that connects users to public or private networks.

openCanvas provides a 1-4 person, pressure-seinsitive (for those tablet users) canvas to connect with friends and draw with. This is actually the 1.1 networking version, similar to the popular paid program.

With these two programs, you can connect under hamachi IP addresses compatible with the openCanvas networking.

You'll need a network name/pass to join with, or to create your own if you're going to network with someone so once you're connected, contact whoever it is that is hosting the drawing session and copy their hamachi IP off of the hamachi window (#.###.###.# format) down.

Open openCanvas, and make sure it's displaying english and not gibberish (last option on the top toolbar, dropdown and select english.) Go to the Network dropdown and Show Network Window. This window has three tab options, and depending on weather you're hosting or joining, in most cases, all you'll need is the Client tab to join.

Client tab will have three input fields. The IP of the host, your choice of a username, and a password, if there is one. The gibberish button is "okay." (Or so I assume)

If you're hosting, you'll want to go to the Network Preference tab and adjust the size of the canvas. I usually go at a 3:4 ratio, since it's most comfortable to draw with multiple users that way, without having to scroll up a bunch. (Ex: 1000x700) Port isn't that important, all you have to change is the number of members, and layers to each. I usually max these two out. Once you're finished, go back to the Server tab and type in your username, and if you'd like: a password.

Then you're done, just make sure everyone's connected, and start drawing!

Then on, you can go go to the view dropdown and save canvas screenshots, finish your session and save the event file, so you can replay it later (like you see on oekakis) Neat, huh?

Hope to get a few people drawing! :D
