I know it's been a while since I've called you guys, but this definitely isn't where I meant to end up. Celestial Being was out in space. I hope this is the same safeline, to get a little bit of help. I haven't seen anyone else around and this doesn't seem like a familiar location. Mister... Your voice sounds familiar, but... Are you new, here?

There wasn't any.]
... That's new.

For you, maybe. There's a reason people try to make sure anyone new here gets the guide. Now, what do you want to know?

[With the question posed, Lyle focuses more on the cigarette in his hand.]

You mean if they get killed in the city? That takes about a day. If you mean if someone died in their own world and came here... Well, a lot of people come here alive- and a lot of people come here dead, to. It happens pretty often.

He shuffles his feet for a moment, canting his head to the side, but looking appropriately ... uneasy, given the subject matter.]
I think I've already experienced that. This place really likes playing with people that much, does it?

[It's interesting for him to watch the exchanges between the girl and the creature. Seeing something so unusual keeps his mind off what's truly bothering him. But watching, really, is done nonchalantly, with an occasional glance elsewhere as casually as possible.]
Call me Lyle Dylandy. There's a Lockon Stratos running around the City. That may be where you found me familiar.

[Lyra notices, but she's used to curious glances by now, and she probably owes the man some sort of explanation.]
Mr. Lyle Dylandy, then. And this is Pantalaimon- my daemon. We're part of each other.
I can't take you to the exit, Mr. Lyle Dylandy- there en't one, but we can show you around the rest of the city, if you'd like?

[He focuses in on the daemon after that, cautiously wondering if he should greet it in some way.]
Nice to meet you, Pantalaimon. And I got a map on this-
[He holds up his cellphone.]
So why don't you show me where I can find a nice meal? I've been living in space for a while.

Ah- There are some good places along the square! They've got stuff no one's ever heard of back in Oxford!
[Lyra's expression is cheerful and eager as she points to a sign down the street.]

[He notes where she's pointing as he asks.]

[She shrugs, and starts walking toward the restaurant.]
But you're older than me, Mr. Lyle.
