I never really thought of the comparison before, but I sort of think of you and Hala in similar ways. You're two of the people I know whom I find the most immensely impressive already, and whom I expect will go on to do really impressive and interesting things with the rest of your lives, and you're also both people I've always wished I knew better than I did, although a part of me kinda enjoys the only half knowing you that lets me maintain this fandom / celebrity crush perspective on you.

And you're both people I tend to see over winter break :) Which raises the question, why have we never invited Hala along to the holiday party? If she's in town this year, that will have to be remedied.

done and done. I'll tell Selma to come too. (to be fair, the past couple of winters I've only managed to see each dillsi once, for a matter of hours, despite my being home for a solid week. they're busy and nocturnal creatures, hard to get hold of.)

As for the rest of that comment, any comparison to Hala is an honor, so thank you! I'd never thought of it myself, but I suppose I could be the yang to her yin. I'm going to have to print out your comment and save it to read over when I'm feeling less than awesome. :)

I'm wondering what the chances are Pixies karaoke would even exist in the Tri-Cities. It doesn't seem quite within the range of songs I picture being available there. But we can certainly try, if you don't make it up here some time before then :)

Yeah, I was thinking it'd be a Seattle thing. In Philadelphia the big karaoke bars or the yuppie bars with a karaoke night all tended to have at least a couple Pixies tracks.
