I haven't bothered posting in a while. One reason is because I feel like LJ is some sort of sinking ship with everyone jumping off and swimming to nicer shores or something...aka, no one posts or comments anymore and I am all set with hearing myself talk or write or what-have you

This is probably reason number two why I hate post-apocalyptic. The gloom and oppressive doom is number one, but this is just - argh And you're right, it's in scifi too. Much as I love Firefly, the demographics made me seethe. Also, the prevalence of the Chinese language but no actual Chinese/Asian descent.
