"Aren't boys supposed to have superior hand-eye co-ordination?" She asks, raising her eyebrows at him in disappointment. She digs her toes into the edge of the hand-me down leather couch in Ellen's New York Apartment. You see, there's this guy and truth be told, he's not anything like any of the guys she's been with. He's not rough and mean, or

Coming from a small town, Ichigo was not exactly what you would call 'prepared' for something quite so different as New York City. He thought he was, of course, but he wasn't. The smells, the sounds, the taste of the air - all of it is so different here, so strange, that he's feeling very much out of his depth.
"Not that I'm not liking it here," he quickly amends, casting a tiny smile her way. (He's hardly EVER scowling around her now. It's really quite alarming). "It's just different. But in here it's just...not. Not so much, anyways, and with you I don't really mind any of the stuff that seems strange to me. I think I'm actually getting used to it, actually."
Maybe not the smell, but the rest of it is bearable when it means he gets to be alone with her.

"I'll be sure to mention it. I didn't think it would be that bad, actually." It can be hard to imagine what it would be like to find metal almost poisonous to be near. Rubbing her back gently, Ichigo glances around at their surroundings.
It isn't the nicest area, though he doesn't think they're likely to be shot at any moment. A bit run down, he would probably describe it. Not the neighborhood you bring your valuables to, but maybe not the worst place to find yourself in the middle of the day. He's not worried about their chances, but the thing they're going towards is certainly making him a bit nervous.
"Still want to do this?"

"I'm sure."
They walk, for hours it seems like, though it can't be more than half an hour. Kaye sings softly under her breath as she follows the road until she comes to a place where her voice stops short in her throat. The sun is already dipping, making the forest seem darker than ever.
'Was it you, girl?' The memory...she can almost hear the ragged breathing and smell the rain. The day that her whole world turned on it's head when she looked into silver eyes and lost her heart.
She blinks away the tears before Ichigo can see them, veering off the road and into the heavy growth of the trees. She grips his hand tightly now, this is faerie territory. No birds sing here, but the forest is not malevolent, only eerie - as though there is something different...slightly off.

Once or twice he opens his mouth to speak, but Ichigo decides against it each time. It doesn't seem like the time or place for questions. Never show doubt when confronted with the supernatural, with magic or the unknown. It's a rule that's served him well, this false bravery and inflated bravado, and he intends to follow it now.
Head held high and his heart racing, he follows her closely.

The pixie skirts the edge of the water, calling softly and for a second she is almost certain that nothing will happen ( ... )

"We'll take our chances," he says, finding his voice to be much braver than he feels. "We may not be alike, but we're going to try anyways. Whatever happens."
He wants to point out that he's not exactly mortal, but it hardly seems the time for nitpicking.

Bad omens can sometimes be hard to ignore.
"What does it mean?" Not willing to beat around the bush, Ichigo decides to move straight for the kill. There's one thing he wants to know and one thing only. "What does that mean, all the blood and...that."

"Last time my egg practically exploded and that didn't turn out --"
She turns from Ichigo and holds a short, hushed conversation with her faerie friend. The Thistlewitch grips Kaye's shoulder, offering words of comfort, but in the end only five words are loud enough to be heard by anyone but the Pixie:
"This is what you choose?"
Kaye doesn't have a choice. She followed her gut and her stupid tingling goosebumps. She threw herself headfirst into the feeling of coarse orange hair against her fingertips and the thought of how his lips would taste and now...she has no option.
"Yes." It comes out a croak and she stands, wiping her hands onto her pantyhose. Even after washing with stain-remover, the red smear remains; a memory of this painful day.
She takes his hands in hers, first one and then the other. Kaye Fierch looks up at him with a split-pixie grin no-one can replicate.
"Fuck the future, right?"

"Yeah," he agrees. "Fuck the future. I don't care what happens, what anyone says. No offe-" He's turned to speak this last part to the Thistlewitch, but she's already disappeared by that time, leaving Ichigo with his sentence trailing off. "...uh, okay. Never mind I guess."

Blood. Discord. Fuck the future.
"Wanna go to the arcade?" She waggles her eyebrows at him, twirls and takes off in the opposite direction, he better be fast, or he might just lose her.

Worries that stem from the idea of being together for a very long time.
"Hey, wait up!" He's right behind her with a few quick steps, but he lets her keep just a little distance ahead of him. There's no fun in chasing if it's so easy to catch.
Then again, maybe he's done chasing now. Maybe he doesn't need to anymore.
