One of the many reasons I love Wyoming.

Went for a drive today... did a little birdwatching, they're starting to return. Observed the following:

Coyote
Richardson's Ground Squirrels
Fatelopes Lots of fatelopes
A conspiracy of Ravens about some carrion
An unidentified type of bluebird and mate
A large, large wet Golden Eagle (flew before I could get a picture)

Also, several days ago on the edge of town we sat and watched a red fox sitting at the edge of her den about 10 feet away for several minutes. She looked at us and blinked, but didn't flee, even after we left.

Anyway, we drove up through Chugwater and nearly to Wheatland before heading West around the northern Medicine Bow mountains and out into the Laramie plain (seen below). Desolate and foreboding, miles upon miles of uninhabited hills leading to dark mountains eclipsed in sheets of rain and low storm clouds. An image worthy of Mordor.
