My apologies if this has been posted, not sure if it's considered a spoiler so I just cut the whole article. Little question, though...

From the Hollywood Reporter:

Mickey Rourke and Sam Rockwell are in talks to star as the villains in Iron Man 2, being directed by Jon Favreau. )

gwyneth paltrow, rumors, articles, iron man 2, casting

While I'm all for having Natasha in the movie, that does seem confusing. Maybe just another employee? But why couldn't they just make her part of SHIELD?

This article says "another one of Stark's assistants."

So either Pepper needs more help or it's an error and Natasha is supposed to be the assistant of Sam Rockwell's character.

Color me confused, too.

I think it's an error and she's supposed to be someone else's assistant.

Whatever happened to the Mandarin? Tony's biggest villain ever? They so alluded to it in the first one! I mean, seriously?

Ten Rings?

I want the Mandarin, damn it!

XD

Hammer just doesn't compare...and doesn't that all take place during the Avengers?

Favreau has said that they're treating this very much like a trilogy and he considers the Mandarin to be the ultimate villain a la the Emperor in Star Wars. I'm betting there will be more hints of him pulling the strings in IM2 leading up to something epic in the third film.

Mandarin is supposed to be in IM 3 jazzypom January 8 2009, 01:39:12 UTC
Which makes sense, let movie! Stark get some grounding (I was about to say confidence, LOL) in his abilities.

movie!stark lacking confidence is actually an insanely hilarious concept.

I suppose grounding would be needed, but Tony always seemed like the kinda guy to jump in first and think about the consequences when he's getting the crap beat out of him later.

That is either gonna be a car crash or the greatest movie ever made!

I so, so agree.

Also, I love Sam Rockwell and if there's any big-budget major motion picture I want to see that quirky indie-darling guy in, it's IM2. :) Having RDJ and Rockwell both playing billionaires makes me all kinds of happy.
