Just a quick question: Do we have any canon on the dates that Tony Stark was in Afghanistan?

Not so far as I know, but he was gone three months and it was snowing a bit at least part of the time he was there (folk huddled around a fire in the snow)- you might want to google Afghani geography and weather patterns, might give you an inkling of what time of year it was.

If I had to guess, I'd say it was spring- there was snow, but it melted during the day, and it was hot and sandy but apparently not so hot that he'd keel over ded straight away wandering around in the dunes without water.

Thanks for the advice! I now know that, if ever there were a sport like XTREME CLIMATES, Afghanistan would totally clean up. *grin*

My thoughts are that he gets taken sometime shortly before Christmas -- he asks Obadiah on the phone about the pajamas he got him and also says, "it's going to be an early Christmas" -- and says he's gone for three months. I think it's a little longer than that, actually. I think he comes back in April. I am not sure why I think that, but I'm pretty sure my reasons are excellent. I just can't remember what they are right now.

Thanks! I'd totally forgotten about that bit. It seems to square with the May-ish trial run business quite well; gives Tony time to build and learn to fly his suit.

One of the TV shows (I can't remember if it was Mad Money or the one about the Firefighter's Benefit) showed a date in May on the screen. So he got back before then?

My notes say May 24th for the charity ball / the attack on Gulmira.

Actually it just says "24th 7pm" (there was excellent continuity -- he finished up the hand repulsor at midnight). So someone may want to check that it is in fact May. Pretty sure that's what it was. Maybe that was the 24th time we saw his chest, I dunno. That's why the notepad, my memory's terrible. *dork*

What I *do* know for sure: the latest magazine cover was January 2008.

Awesome! I'm so glad you've got notes. I didn't even think I'd be needing them--goes to show, eh?

Because I haven't seen this movie near as often as I should've: the latest magazine cover in what context?

The Apogee Awards montage.

(Well clearly another showing is called for... *g* )

Aaah, right. I was pretty sure that was what you meant, but not absolutely positive.
