Jarvis doesn't really sleep, when he's not human. He takes some down time for running diagnostics, fixing anything that comes up amiss, that sort of thing - but it's not the same as sleeping. Still, it's adequate rest for the circumstances

Tony Stark doesn't snore. He would never do something like that.

So, theorectically not snoring, Tony is sleeping. It's an amusing sight, really.

At eight AM, right on time, Tony's alarm goes off, buzzing noisily. Six thwaps of the snooze alarm later.... he's still sleeping.

Tony's cell phone is ringing.

Pretty insistently.

(Caller ID says 'RHODEY.')

Tony eyeballs the phone, picking it up. "Rhody! Hey! How's it going, man? What's up in the skies today?"

Pepper fades into the background, going to the living room to see about the paperwork.

[nexttimebaby]

"What's up in the skies?"

Rhodey sounds a little irritated, even over the thin connection.

"What's up in the skies."

Okay. Maybe more than a little.

"More like what's not up in the skies. You know what I still don't have in my hand?"

"I couldn't even begin to know, Rhodey." Tony splutters. "You might have to enlighten me. I'm a busy man."

Walking out to the living room, Tony waves at Pepper. Just in case.

She eyeballs him, looking just as confused as he is.

And a message appears on Pepper's PDA: I couldn't begin to speculate.
Maybe if Tony was on the land line - but that would be snooping. Jarvis does his best not to do that.

Pepper types back at Jarvis. "No clue here. You can't hear, can you?

[runsthehouse]

No. And at present, I'm not going to try.
Knowing Tony, they'll hear what the problem is by the end of the day.

"Those plans you promised me last week," Rhodey informs Tony, darkly. "Do you know how many generals I've got on my ass about this?"

"Are any of them hot blondes?" Tony perks up. "Because I haven't had a blonde in a while." He pauses, then eyeballs Pepper. "Right. Those plans. For the... weapon. I have those. Really, I do. I just have to figure out where I put them."

[nexttimebaby]

"No," he says. "They're all annoyed old guys.

"Yeah, those plans. The ones for the fighter jet; the one that was gonna be an 'innovation' and all that other crap you promised the brass."

"Damn. I really don't need any more annoyed old guys." Tony sighs. "I got them done, Rhodey. I just can't remember where I filed them. Listen, I promise I'll get them to you by the end of the day."

[nexttimebaby]

"Look, just ask Pepper or Jarvis, if they're not already listening here," he says, letting up. "They'll find 'em a lot faster than you will."

He sounds a little more amused, less annoyed.

A little.

"Hey! I was going to do that!" Tony sighs, then calls out, half to the phone, half to the Room At Large. "Yo, Jarvis? Can you look in my files and find the stuff I was working on, shit. Um. It's marked 'Rhodey's Plans.' I think. Either that or Air Force Shit. I can't remember!"

[runsthehouse]

"Ah. Those plans. You need only have said, sir. What would you like done with them?"
Naturally, before Jarvis is halfway done talking, the files are ready and waiting.

"Send them to Colonel Rhodes, please." He turns back to the phone. "Alright, your plans are on their way. Will that be all, Colonel?" Yes, there's a heavy irony in that.
