The Guardian, Chapter Six

“Oh…of course, I mean…I just didn’t think that you’d ever be able to…” Bella shrugged and hugged Alice again, mumbling her thanks over and over.  Despite being grateful for Alice’s particular vision concerning her daughter, a strange feeling of unease settled in the pit of her stomach knowing someone could essentially spy on her ( Read more... )

Fab chapter! Loved Jake's little "moment" of posession and Bells reaction. Killed my self laffing at Alice and her tv moment.. does this mean its the end or is Jake's companion piece just his pov?? Please not the end :(

No, it's not the end! It IS close, though - perhaps two more chapters and an epilogue. Maybe only one more chapter, though, it depends on how long it turns out to be once I start writing. It will be a while until an update, though - I'm leaving tomorrow for a cruise! Whoohoo!

She didn’t want him to touch her

Now that there is why this is appropriate for this to be posted on SoB... even after he just saved her daughter's life, she won't even give him a little hug?? At least she'll write to him now, but still...

I understand your reasoning, but at the same time, like you said, he just saved her daughter's life. She's not thinking about Edward at this moment - in fact, she's realized how absolutely insignificant he is in the scheme of things. Her daughter could have died and that is what she's focusing on. I don't know if that makes sense, but it IS her motivation. At this point, as cold as it sounds, she just doesn't care much about Edward...

I don't know if that makes sense,

It makes sense in the context of it being a B/J story, like you said from the beginning. In my own personal context, the words "insignificant" and "saved my daughter's life" cannot exist in the same universe. Bella and Jacob really come across as ungrateful; sort of like Edward is a servant whose job is to clean up after their mess and discreetly vanish without catching the eye of the lady of the house.

Ah, but is this "coldness" REALLY unlike these characters? I think if Bella would have fallen all over Edward and been dramatically grateful, it would be going against her nature. And Jacob...well, Jacob would just never do that where Edward is concerned, no matter what just happened...even Edward saving his daughter's life.
