Yes, poor Sammy is not doing so well. He once again had to spend months on his own without his brother. And even though at least this time he could tell himself that Dean was happy and alive and well, Sam was still all alone without the ability to so much as call up his brother.

And Dean definitely would never have made the choice to not remember Sam.
