While I am professionally and politically averse to the term "chick lit," I cannot stand the kind of thing you described re Hamilton--Girl Power does not equal phrases like "kick-ass boots" any more than continued use of the word "sex" makes Hotel Babylon on BBC-America in fact sexy. That's not chick lit: that's insultingly audience-underestimating puerile attitudinal drivel (a.k.a. anything ever penned by Plum So-Priviledged-and-Entitled-It-Hurts Sykes, who should be beaten to death with Caroline Roehm's dessicated nasal corpse).
