If I were you, I certainly would not have wanted to lead that group, either, and it's justifiable. You certainly should not have to do inordinate quantities of extraneous work just because you aren't innately inept.
However, you surely realized that by deferring governance to someone else (who would inevitably be "unskilled" as you said), you would not only have to still be leading the group, but you'd also have to do it through a channel of stupidity (ie the current group leader).
In the end, I think group work in general is destined to screw over at least one person, and I think that person (in this case) is you. Either you lead the group and deal with extra work and lots of whining, or you don't lead the group and deal with the same things.
I thought that by deferring governance I would save myself from menial tasks (such as developing a schedule) while simultaneously making the other members feel useful.
We have until the last day of class (I think April 26th) to complete the project. I should have an hour of free time between now and the next class meeting, so I'll just do the whole project by myself and bring it to them next week and ask where they want to go from there.
I guess I'll leave the Mouse and Cheese icons for them to develop. Drawing in Java sucks anyway.

I do not envy your position.

It's too bad your group leader is done "disusing" the issue with you, though it seems he's too thick-headed to see anything your way anyway.

I've spent most of the time hating Java and playing with different maze algorithms.
