um. let's just say- that out of the 15 people i work with- only 6 are white. so yeah.
i have to ask some of them to repeat themselves multiple times....
and ftr- i am talking about my COWORKERS. i have more trouble understanding my coworkers than my individuals with severe cerebral palsy or serious stroke affectations....

no apologies necessary cause i feel you i really do.
i love my individuals- and have neverending boatloads of patience for them- my coworkers however- i have NONE.
maybe because they SHOULD know better.
maybe because they have perfectly full functioning brains and couldnt be bothered to try and better themselves- whereas my individuals do the best they can- if not more.

i just hate people in general, i suppose.

my niece was in labourl;ast night about five cm dialated and the nurse was like,. treating her as if her minimal moaning in uberpain while shes in labour for the first fucking time EVAR was over top.

ok. i get this so well. same situation. disabled people, ghetto coworkers. i get it. the only thing that works is listening and asking them to repeat.......and repeat again...and most of all, FIND SOMETHING IN COMMMON......like for example: where you worked before this place...do you like it...the weather....sports....the government (yes they have opinions on it) ...poverty....better ways to help suchandsuch client....marriage...gay marriage...the war in iraq....movies....music...rap/hiphop artists...britney spears shaving her head....white girls with dreadlocks...the community....

that's been the plan.
of course- the ladies i work with are more involved with talk of their cell phones and their plans than anything else- chitchat is kind of tough.
however- i know their love of celeb chat- and esp reality tv- so thankfully- i'm watching SURVIVOR and AMERICAN IDOL again- so i at least have something to say when they rattle on for 8 solid hours.....

oh... and yeah- they LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE to talk about work- i try and stay away from that subject- bc everyone there pretty much hates each other- and i'm still too new to know who i'll be working with most often- and who i'm willing to form an alliance with- tho it is really fun to see them all try and outbitch everyone else to me. apparently everyone there sucks- and they ALLLLLLLLLL want me to know just how badly they do. *sigh*

I always pretend like I am learning an exciting new laungage at work when people use words like checkings account, or I's gots, or I's be wutching it's.. It's like learning french or something (summintin') it helps me not to reach over and tear people's jugular out with my bare hands.
