Fic: Breaking and Entering (Make It Or Break It, Emily/Sasha)

Dec 27, 2009 20:38

This is a story that just sort of fell out of my head in the last week. It was partly an exercise in id-stroking (because OMG Emily/Sasha is my dirtywrongbad OTP and fic was a necessity) and partly a weird contemplation on women's gymnastics, which I find both captivating and appalling ( Read more... )

This is really beautiful - so elegantly written, but still true to the characters and the way they think. I love the way you wrote Chloe in this, actually, since she instantly lightens the mood but also in a weird way gets all the truth out of Emily. And that speech where Sasha is telling Emily where he wants to kiss her - damn hot. It's great to see something this great in this fandom!

Thank you so much!

I was concentrating harder on plotting than language, so to hear that it still came across as elegant makes me really happy.

My official reason for including Chloe was to lighten the mood. My real reason might be that she's my faaavourite omg. >_>

Thanks again. And oh man, I wish there was more MIOBI fic...

Wow! Finally a longer story and it's Sasha/Emily! I was so happy when I saw it because I love them and there's not enough good Emily/Sasha fanfic out there. That said I have to squee a little for your fic. It's a wonderful story. I loved especially the part with the kissing and how you described that he gave her what she wanted.

I admit that I'm more the vanilla sex type reagrding that pairing but that doesn't mean that I don't appreciate your clever way of writing dom/sub here. I love the story and would be really happy if you'll decide to write more about them.

This was definitely a "cover my eyes and just keep writing" sort of story. And as soon as I finished, I immediately wanted to write something really sweet and vanilla about Emily and Sasha. I'm secretly a giant sap. :D

But anyway, I'm glad you enjoyed the story, and thank you for your kind comments.

Oh man. I thought about trying your Sasha/Emily prompt for yuletide, and I'm so glad now that I didn't because it wouldn't have been anywhere near as layered and elegant as this. The tension in this is so strong, and I love the way Emily has all this undirected, vague want that slowly goes laser focused. I love how obsessive it feels, and how there's this undercurrent of almost menace. How it's got darkness to it, but without making either of them unsympathetic. And I love that the safeword he gives her is "Coach" because it's this subtle touch that just draws out the most disturbing elements and gives me pause. Nicely done.

Thanks! I really struggled with how not to make the pairing not squicky, but also not at all functional. I'm really glad the sense of obsession and darkness came through.

(As an aside, I was checking out the unfilled yuletide prompts this morning and I saw your Payson request. The idea of Payson/A Coach really has me intrigued. Especially since I just rewatched ep2 and her anger towards Marty is really intense. What I find interesting about Emily and Sasha is that she's this girl who's never been coached and has no idea how to react to this dude telling her what to do. But, of course, in very stark contrast, Payson has been training since she was X years old and seems to deify her coaches. It's definitely an interesting jumping-off point for a story.)

Yes! I put Marty or Sasha on the prompt because I thought it could still work with Sasha considering her fangirly reaction when he came to the gym. But honestly I was thinking more of Marty because of that exact episode. There was an intensity! The way his leaving completely threw her off. And the whole thing where she confronted him, and then he goaded her to motivate her, was kind of weird and weighted in a way that immediately set off all my inappropriate relationship alarm bells. She's just so dependent on her coaches, and so invested in pleasing them (she often showed an insecurity about Sasha not acknowledging her as the best gymnast at the gym etc.) It seems like there could be a lot of fodder there, especially with a character like Marty who's proven himself to be not exactly morally irreproachable.
