I'm perturbed by the "almost" in "almost have a threesome". What does "almost" mean?

Actually, the "almost" gives me hope. You know NBC is never going to broadcast an actual teenage threesome -- but I'd be happy if they showed the three of them fool around a bit, before inevitably getting cold feet.
