Spooks

Wow, Spooks was good, huh? Zeitgeisty and provocative without buckling under the weight of its own complicatedness.

I'm never sure what to feel when the finale is far and away the best episode of a season. I mean, it shows improvement, which is always good, but on the other hand, it's rather annoying, because... there are no more episodes to ( Read more... )

Heh. I clicked this specifically to see if Adam got killed. This show... it messes you up.

PS: I love Jo, but I suspect that is a very unpopular opinion?

I was genuinely shocked that Adam didn't die. Heh.

P.S. If there is a Spooks fandom (I doubt it), I am not in it. But between you, me, and rez_lo, I'd say Jo is a FAN FAVOURITE. :D Yeah, everyone else probably hates her. Because she's blonde and pretty and female. Oh noes, etc.

Jo's scene with her mother was beautiful. I did a little chair-dance, being a grinning angst-whore. (I love Jo, too!)

I'm out of the mainstream of Spooks commentary so perhaps this is belaboring the obvious: I think you're exactly right that Adam's story is a deliberate remix of Tom's.

And Zaf is shaping up to be a cold-blooded superspy, imo. More of that, please!

If I follow the Spooks writers at all, I think next year will be the year of Zaf and Jo taking the slow road into batshit crazy. Personally, I'm psyched. :D

My thoughts on Adam are that, as a character, he was rushed into the show because MM wanted to leave, and was initially given scant characterization. The writers then built a compelling development for Adam on the top of that -- but you can't get away from the fact that the foundations of his character were problematic and often contradictory. Personally, I think Tom and Adam are, despite marked similiarities, fundamentally different, because Adam is a family man, while Tom is your typical "we are all alone" brand of spy (Tom just had the idea of being a husband and father dangled in front of him and abruptly wrenched away). My problem, actually, is that the writers frequently tried to write Adam as Tom, which just never really worked for me.

(...Sorry, what was my point? :D)

Annie! Love that icon! (and where did you get the screen caps -- I can't find LoM ones anywhere! :p )

GASP! I LOVE YOUR ICON! High five! It's us against the whole woobify'ing Office fandom! :D

Ummm... I believe I made the LoM caps myself, since I had the .avi files on my computer at the time. I didn't keep every episode, but if you can think of specific scenes that you want capped, I can dig out my LoM discs and make you some caps. :)

I think every fandom has need for more threesome porn gen fic. I think it may become my new calling card. ;)

Yay!!! :uses again to reinforce point:

And aww, you're so sweet to offer LoM caps -- wow. :D I'll have to go back and look at the eps and refresh my memory a little bit. ;p All I know is the few select caps the BBC and BBCA put on their site are just...not that good. :x

Hee! Oh, that's right... :fondly remembers Chase/House/Wilson fic: :D
