Monster update--my new favorite song, and a book and movie/s review of sorts. ^_^

Ummm, could somebody please enlighten me as to how Daite Senorita managed to make it into the Oricon lists last month? That song's crazy... solidark (yes, I finally managed to download the songs in your mp3 update). *edit* But I do like it, craziness notwithstanding. ^0 ( Read more... )

Hey, Daite Señorita is the catchiest song of this year! I still love it and I admit it ^___^.

And the sexual tension between Jack and Elizabeth is the best part of the movie (eat this, slashers!!! *bwahahaha). No, seriously, I prefer Jack to Will, though he wasn't so bad in the second movie. And you're right, the cliffhanger is mean! But I heard that part 3 will be out already in spring 2007 so we don't have to wait *that* long. And you're lucky anyway, official release date for Germany is 7/27 (guess who already downloaded it two days after the US release...).

I never said I didn't like it. Hee. But it *is* a crazy song. ^__^ I'm debating which is crazier, that or Tarkan singing in English. Lol.

Of course we prefer Jack to Will. But I don't think I want to see Will try to kill Jack on account of a misunderstanding over Elizabeth. I think I get the "you and I are the same" part though. They're both innately selfish, but both have good hearts, which is why Elizabeth seems to understand Jack the most in the movie. Not to mention that that chain-jack-to-the-mast-so-we-can-get-away thing that she did in the end sounds like a very Jack-like thing to do.

Spring 2007? But I heard Johnny Depp say in an interview somewhere that the third movie won't begin shooting until December. Unless I heard wrong and they meant post-production?

You're welcome. I didn't upload these though, Nikkou's the one who does most of the uploading for the forums.

You're welcome. I found these while I was trawling LJs and figured I could share. Lightbreeze's latest entries are usually public, but you could probably drop her a comment if you take any of the songs from the kashuu version. ^__^ Enjoy!

BTW, how did you feel about them making Tenar blond haired and blue-eyed?

:D!

Blond haired, blue-eyed . . . ummm . . . I wasn't happy to say the least. Just the general portrayal of the characters, I guess, like making Lebannen and Tehanu (presumably) the same age. To me, although I doubt they'd have used the one scene anyways, that sort of messes up what I think LeGuin wanted to show their relationship as. Point in case - the scenes on Dolphin and how that establishes his relationship with both Tenar and Tehanu. And Ged with facial hair beyond his Tombs scruffies? :/ ::shrug:: Perhaps personal preference ( ... )

Here's my opinion on that: A lot Studio Ghibli movies feature a pre-adolescent/early adolescent couple as the main characters. At any rate, there's *always* a pairing among the main characters, adolescent or not (Totoro was an exception, but then, that's because the main characters are siblings). And since their primary source is The Farthest Shore, that makes Arren the main character. Of course, he has Sesserakh later on, but considering the plot and Arren's standing at this point, making Tehanu the same age as him was probably the easiest way to give him a somewhat believable "female counterpart" as opposed to inserting Sesserakh or a random female OC (the former would have messed up the timeline/history of the world even more than adding a few years to Tehanu's age, and the latter would probably have had fans of the books crying Mary-Sue in no time).

I don't watch much anime, but from what I've seen (from Ghibli at ( ... )

You're a Gracian, and you like Madeleine L'Engle and Neil Gaiman and Yoshitaka Amano and CLAMP... and that's pretty... unusual, especially for a Gracian (of whose "outside literature" composes of Harry Potter and Sydney Sheldon).

Hahahaha. So true. Kind of annoys you that all of those preps in the "popular" group who used to pick on you for liking those things suddenly decide to jump on the bandwagon because geek culture is now "cool", eh?

hm, just out of curiosity... would you happen to know someone named Kimberly Lim? ^^;;

Ummmm, if the Kimberly you're talking about is a guy in section 1, then I know him. But if it's a female from section 6, then, ummm, that's most likely me (my name's spelled British style with an "e" before the y though)? Either way, I guess this means that I actually know you from somewhere? *sheepish* ^_^ ;;

Therru's Song flary26 October 30 2006, 03:03:09 UTC
I'm lucky; I'm living in Hong Kong, so I went to watch Gedo Senki yesterday. I have fallen in love with Therru's song. The link you have isn't working anymore, I'm afraid. I was wondering if you give me a link to another place where I can find it, or if you could upload it again? I'll be forever thankful.

I also bring you bad news. Gedo Senki isn't going to be released in the US until 2009, because the SciFi channel has the rights for Tales from Earthsea, and they only expire then. You could try to buy the Hong Kong DVD version, which probably will have English subtitles.

Thanks in advance! And sorry for the bad news.
