1. At first we have to give the coloring to the icon and we will add the animation later. So select a picture resize it and crop it.
2. Duplicate your base and erase everything except the lightning. To do this easily, select the part you want to erase with the polygonal lasso and erase it using the eraser. Now set this layer to screen, 49% opacity.
3. Duplicate this new layer and set it to screen too. We will play with these two layer make the icon animated.
4. Create a new selective color layer:
cyans: +62 0 0 0
neutrals: +26 -1 -11 0
5. Create a channel mixer layer:
red: +122 -68 +36
green: +14 +110 -22
blue: 0 0 +124
6. Create a new selective color layer:
reds: +56 +28 +20 0
cyans: +100 0 0 +89
neutrals: +19 -7 +1 0
7. Now we have to animate it, so we'll go to imageready (ctrl+shift+m). We will start with thw first frame. At first, change the time of the frame and set it to 0,5 seconds.
Now we have to put visible only the layers we want so, click on the eyes of the layers (on the layers window) to make the layers dessappear. In this frame we will put invisible the second and the third layer, the ones that have the lightning.
8. Now lets go with ne next frames. Create 6 new frames and change this visibilities and opacities in each frame:
2nd: 3rd layer invisible(the second with the lightning), and change the frame time to 0,2 seconds
3rd: all visible, frame time=0,05 seconds
4th: 3rd layer invisible, frame time=0,1 seconds
5th: set 3rd layer opacity to 64%, frame time=0,1 seconds
6th: 3rd layer invisible, frame time=0,2 seconds
7th: 2nd layer opacity to 23%, 3rd layer invisible and frame time=0,1 seconds
Just save it as a optimized gif. file, and it's done
