Both move on, away from their past and into a wedding in the new year. Of course I let both go their way.
But I'm happy for only one of the two, because I'm confident that, despite some possible difficulties in a new country, she'll find her own happyness. And doesn't burn bridges, though she crosses them.
She's together with him for over a year now, started it besides her previous relationship (none of my business) but always avoided introducing him to me or vice versa (I've met all of her ex-friends and girls of her circle). From what she tells he is everything the cliché has for surgeons, including heavy drinking in his spare time. All that she needed to bring to his appartment when moving in was a toothbrush and a few clothes, because he already had everything he needed... Hwang Woo-Suk is a fake, so Euronews just tells me. But *she* is a real Clone. Stepford Style.
Those look like some fabulous books! I'm sorry for Xy moving, but happy that she is staying in touch and has left you good books. I have To The Lighthouse on my TBR pile - it's one of the few Woolf books I haven't read yet. (I LOVE V. Woolf!) I hate what is happening to your other friend. I've seen it happen to a few, who seem to bury their entire identity in order to pursue.......What? I'm not even so sure that they do it for the man. They sometimes seem to be pursuing some idyllic image of "happy normal couple" in their own minds that is completely apart from reality - and they will forcefully, stubbornly fit both themselves and the man into this vision. *sigh* So sad, but they have to learn for themselves.
