So all the places where tomorrow lies bleeding

Hello, antediluvian journal site now eclipsed by even-more-social media! I still like you, actually. You and I have a well-established relationship in which I use you to give the (to an extent accurate) impression that all I think about is gaming. Accordingly I will now write ( a post about a game I just played in )

larp, aralis

I have to say that your recent IG e-mails are so entertaining in their own way. I love the way you write as Hasmir.

Also enjoyed our conversations as well. They were dramatic but also darkly comedic. YOU ROCKED THE SOCKS off of the choir performance...and now your latest mail increases the angst!

Be well.

"Esteemed Baron Kelson,

"Enclosed please find ten (10) adorable crayon drawings executed by plucky orphans whom your largesse has helped to feed, clothe, and house. In our next package you will find ten more, as well as a series of comically misspelled essays on why the Kells is the Best Bawony in Gwinith!

"As Baron and benefactor, you will of course be relied upon to publicly appraise all of these objects and find kind, encouraging things to say about them. Perhaps you could take the time to come and visit the Sanctuary? Consider the joy on those tiny faces! The hope, so easily bolstered, so easily dashed!

"The Sanctuary Council feels it is now able to send you a steady ration of these materials, perhaps with some increase in volume as time goes by and further plucky orphans are created. Please note, my lord, that you do qualify for our Platinum Preferred status: were you to make an annual subscription of one gold (or more, as your no doubt generous nature might require!), we would be delighted to simply store the drawings, ( ... )

This post is why I shouldn't read LJ in meetings.

It is not proper to make Imperial Gentlemen SOIL THEMSELVES from laughter!

Be well.

I hear that some staff people were wondering if I'd be so OOG-miserable afterward that I'd want to walk-and I guess it's interesting that I totally didn't, and in some crazy way instead thought it was great.

I am glad you had fun with that, cause I was wondering a bit the same thing myself, even as I was urging people (read: Hadrian) to stop trying to reason with Hasmir and just end it (and feeling ever-so-slightly bad about it).

I'm kinda hoping that I'd be as OK with how everything played out if it hadn't ended the way it had, but I'm kinda competitive, so I'm not as confident about that as I'd like.

Oh, and your line about 'now my betrayal of you... and her... is complete' was awesome and utterly awful IG.

I was wondering if that came off as gloating, rather than the exact opposite.

Oh no, it didn't come off as gloating at all.

(Fathom still wanted to punch him in the face, to be clear, but not because she thought he was gloating. Maybe to try to make his head start working right again.)

Yeah, that betrayal line was special... very well done!

Glad all of the drama managed to stay on the right side of the IG/OOG line for you.

I think a true sadness in the last couple years of Aralis is that I've had less interaction with Hasmir, and the ways in which our paths and conversations crossed this event were interesting, to say the least.

And along the lines of interesting, that confession of fear of your own skin to Najita came off less like cowardice to her than it was prudence: the wrath of the Mountain is not to be taken lightly. No one wants a Shadow Hunter on their trail, after all. :)
