So I got my Firefly DVDs, and they're shiny and pretty and *yay*!, and also, there is nothing better than listening to Nathan Fillion and Alan Tudyk giggling like ten-year-olds and referencing The Deer Hunter. Well, not a lot of things, anyway

I tend to forget recastings when I think of au's, and I don't know why -- story bits like this show how effective they can be at showing character bits through compare and contrast.

I'm watching the commentary track of the pilot right now, but I would have loved the story anyway -- promise!
