This is the epilogue to a story I...haven't rightly finished yet. (Cheating? Yes.) For those of you keeping score, it's the Alien Nation AU

You know how much I love love love and adore you for writing this AU. *g*
And for some reason, this just melts me every. single. time: JC thinks for a minute. "I have my mother's spots," he finally says. "At least, I've always thought so. I'm not sure why."
Alien Nation was a sci-fi series on Fox years ago in the early 90s. It was way ahead of its time and lasted only one season (freakin' Fox -- I still have not forgiven them.)
Premise: A starship crashes on earth with a quarter of a million beings on board. It's a slave ship. The slaves on board are Tenctonese (home planet Tencton). They look human, except they have no hair -- brownish spots, each individual like fingerprints. Exceptionally smart, unbelievably strong. After a few years, they're released from quarantine and they become the newest population of (mostly) California. The series was about a Tenctonese police officer and his human partner. It was VERY well done, and had a lot of really interesting social commentary about race and predjudice (there were groups of "purists" who thought the human race should be protected by genicide of all Newcomers. They had to fight for their rights to vote, etc.)
You freaking rock. What a fascinating idea. Cannot wait to read more of it.
"They teach you nothing about sex," JC told him once, "but they *do* teach you a lot about proper lighting and effective use of sound as an aphrodisiac. Well, for humans, anyway."
