It's gotta be one of the worst things to have to do.
Being the parent of a pre-teen female? That's gotta get you a fastpass right through the golden gates. It's gotta be nerve-wracking. As bad as getting picked on is, having to hear it from someone you love can't be easy, either.
Guess all you can do is be there for her, let her test the waters herself. Hopefully she'll get through it all right--we all gotta!
I remember those daysext_5685February 23 2008, 03:50:08 UTC
I started off in a private school. I switched to public school in third grade, 2-3 years after everyone else had started making friends. I was generally always hyper-sensitive and lacking in confidence
( ... )
Oh jeez, I think I've blocked out most of my junior high memories. All I remember was that word got around I could beat up people twice my size, and quite suddenly, all the teasing stopped. (I was the quiet-shy-bookworm girl. No one suspected it until a friend opened her mouth.)
No matter what, I fully recommend any kind of disciplined martial arts. The rules at the dojo do not allow cliques, and they demand everyone respect one another. Kids who go to Karate don't get teased, because they learn that people who make fun of others are morons, and should be ignored.
