numbered braindump; Deadpool would be proud, I'm sure

  1. I went to the Strictly Live Tour last night, and it was great fun -- they really put on a good bit of entertainment -- though to be honest I think dancing doesn't really work in an arena (if you go, pay through the nose for the seats up close, would be my advice, though it is not cheap even up we were). It was the very last night of the tour, and ( Read more... )

strictly come dancing, the edas are the only canon, writing fic, fandom

...Yeah, I can only hope one of these days I write something worthy of any award whatsoever (I've a listfic in CoT, but its chances of winning are approximately a whelk's in a supernova.)

Yay new job! Hope!

Maria/Izzy. Wow. Good luck!

Exactly. I am very glad of it in the Current Climate, etc.

Maria/Izzy. Wow. Good luck!

I think I'm going to need it, 'cos both it and the Big Bang thing are at lengths well over anything I've ever done before.

Dude, srsly, PM me your postal address and I will send it you. I am getting rid of my vast DS9 VHS collection and I would much rather they went to awesome people than randoms off freecycle or wherever. (Also any others you might want - I have all of S1, most of S2 and S3, all of S4 and S5 and the last little bit of S7.)

This is the point where I should have a Sisko icon and don't. Imagine a Sisko icon.

I found about about Camilla a week or two ago. I am sad that she won't be back this year, but then so happy she got to out on a high note.

And yay for new job! And, dude, any Martha/Tom fic is welcome right now, so worry not.

Her show dance with Tom at the very end of the final was amazing, wasn't it? That spinny move (that I think is called an Around The World from what Arlene said, but I have also heard other definitions of that that make me not want to use it in case it is wrong) still leaves me speechless.

And yeah, I have decided to just go for it on the fic front. I'm simultaneously scared of ever managing to write anything as long as the 20k minimum, and that it might end up being way, way longer. (I may well attempt to talk you into being a beta, just to warn you in advance.)

That would not take much tempting.

Thanks! tbh, I think it will almost certainly be neither, but at the moment I will settle for existent and guaranteed to continue existing for six months.

(Your icon may be making me cry out of remembering that bit in Survival.)

Hurray for the new job and love the overheard Starbucks conversation--those little moments are the best!

I'm looking forward to seeing how oh_look_rocks works out, particularly how they handle the whole nomination process. All very interesting!

I have high hopes for OLR. And also that CoT might eventually sort itself out. (You're involved now, right? Any chance you can talk them out of that "we want to put the winners in our archive" clause?)

I am involved with CoT now; I volunteered to help with the Classic noms, since I figure I know enough to make sure stories are placed in the right era! ;-) I think the mods are all committed to making things better and have been from the start, but growing pains are sometimes painful! There's an awful lot to consider and then reconsider in something like this, and from my limited time in the conversation, I can see that lots of thought goes into what they're doing.

As for the archive, I get the impression (still getting the lay of the land) that it's not something they're actively doing (may be a carry-over thing?), so I won't be surprised if that disappears in a future round. It didn't bug me all that much since I'd seen it in the rules for the first round, but I can see that it's gotten some folks mighty upset, and I can understand why.

Edited to correct major double negative confusion!
