I feel slightly impressed with myself

Even though it is something as simple as sorting out my tags and the links in my LJ. But both were seriously pissing me off with how disorganised they were. I've been meaning to clear them out for months and tonight I finally decided to bite the bullet ( Read more... )

So agree so hard with all the points stated above. I think I went dizzy for a whole minute after I read this announcement and saw no mention of SMG or the creator who made it all awesome Whedon himself. I thought I had stepped into bizarro world where the last anyone had ever heard of buffy was the early 90's crappy movie and Joss whedon was invisible or something.
Buffy was a huge deal to me when I was young and I still think all Whedon's writing deserves every emmy, oscar, grammy or award known to man. I didn't know how much until I read this notice and someone tried to crap on my golden memories.
:( The very idea of a reboot is offensive to me, if they had mess with this world, they could have used another vampire slayer or heck explored more of the the mythology without just tearing into the things that went before. They see a cash cow, I see a valuable story that was don right.
Just not cool.

Buffy, even now, is still my favourite show EVER. I love it so much, but I just can't take a remake of it without Joss et el seriously. It's never going to work and it will bomb so badly we'll all get a good laugh from it.

I do agree though, that if they wanted to stay in the slayer world, a different slayer would have been a better choice.

The people who Buffy the Vampire Slayer would mean something to, are never going to watch a film with no Joss, SMG and everyone else because that's not Buffy to us. And if they try to keep even a little bit of the Buffy mythology from SEVEN seasons in a film that few (if any) original Buffy fans will watch they are just going to confuse all the new fans who have NO idea WTF is going on.

They are obviously just seeing the money opportunities presented by Twilight.

Warner Bros are getting lots of tweets on Twitter about how fucking stupid it is. That's funny.

Yeah- I haven't heard much positive responses to this news. There is just a wtf vibe about it. It is just creepy the way studios will do anything to make a quick buck with a readymade idea than really adapt some good books that I know are out there or hire some good scriptwriters to have an original idea or two.

I know, right? Freaking hilarious.

Because, really, who can write like Joss or his writers? Not many people.

And let's be honest: WB are never going to have a film that delivers half the message the tv show did because they are going to want it to be a by the numbers film. Are they really trying to tell us that they can come up with a better story in 2 hours than Joss can in seven seasons on tv and one in the comic books? Really?

If you are going to reboot something like Buffy, at least wait 40 years like they did with Star Trek. At least that's a more credible time lag.

They have not thought this through.

“There is an active fan base eagerly awaiting this character’s return to the big screen.

Um...no. No we're not. I do not want to see Bella Summers. Which is probably what will end up happening. Or I foresee "Slutty the Vampire Slayer". No Buffy in sight.

See...if they want to do this movie, they need to approach Joss and do his ORIGINAL MOVIE VERSION that was destroyed in 1992. THAT is what I would watch. Joss's original vision as to how the movie was supposed to go.

I will laugh my ass off if this flops like the '92 version.

Without Joss and Sarah: There is no Buffy.

What a shame that they are going to take a franchise with one of the biggest cult followings of the last 20 years and reboot it without the necessary elements, such as the creator and star. I predict it to be a big pile of crap. :)

This has all reminded me of how great Whedon is. Especially when asked why he created such strong female characters and he replied, because you're still asking me that. I LOVE HIM AND THEY CAN'T DO IT WITHOUT HIM
