Name your 5 fannish wishes for the new year

1) For the writers of Merlin to get hit by a clue by four and learn how to write a good over-arching plot, consistent characterisation and to stop hitting that fucking reset button. This way I can watch again and keep on loving my show.

2) For Joss Whedon to not go to Fox the next time he has a ( Read more... )

This. So much

5) For there to be less wank this year. It's probably a lot to ask, I know. But there it is.

But what would fandom be without wank?

You're right, of course. What is fandom without wank? Particularly the funny, eyerolling kind *g*

How about less wank? Or less of the bad wank. Like gate!fail, race!fail and amazon!fail, to name but a few.

It just seemed to me there was an over abundance of wank this year. Or perhaps I was just more aware of some of it this year.

That could be a possibility.

Bonus wish: For people to realise just how awful the Twilight books are.

Yes please!

It will never happen, but we can hope, I guess.

Totally agree with #2. And I would agree with your bonus wish, but I realised that I've actually never read them, so I really can't criticize them. It's just that everything I've heard about twilight makes me think the books must be really, really awful.

I've never read the books either. I've tried but I alternate between laughing at how bad it is, wincing because of the awful writing and crying that they came so damn popular.

I really don't think you can believe just how bad they are until you try to read them.

*shudders*

I'm not going to even try. I don't want my opinion of humanity to diminish any further ;)

As long as you know they are awful that's fine. It's the people who act as though they are the greatest and most original literature ever written that really bug me.

It's such a shame about the Percy films. I think there should be a rule that people who make books into films (particularly sci-fi/fantasy books) have to be fans.

3. I totally agree with you. I'm more interested in the action and the science and the things blowing up than I am in watching a love story. If I want there to be a love story in the show, I'll make it up myself ;)

I'm okay with shows that state from the beginning their intent for there to be romance/relationships/sex involved. It's the shows that shoehorn it in when it really isn't needed. NCIS, CSI, CSI:NY and SGA are, for me, the most obvious examples.

I got so fed up with CSI focusing on Sara/Grissom and CSI:NY focusing on Lindsay/Danny that I stopped watching.

And really, in the majority of cases, the fanfic does it so much better than the shows. And hey, we also get multiple ways of it happening *g*
