LOL, you're a genius!! It works! It was just too hard for me to break a habit of about 15 years' standing, I guess.

I've got another one for you: how do I get it to sort my spreadsheet by date, January to December. I have the cell format set to "date," but when I sort, it goes in strict numeric order (11/8/08, 1/18/08, 2/3/08, etc.) I noticed in the sort options box, it gives an option of sorting "January, February, March," etc., so I changed the format of my dates to "January 8, 2008, etc.) it does not sort them at all! I am most frustrated!

Hm. That's kind of odd. I'm running the Windows version, so it may be different. But I'm able to select all of the date cells and then format them to date (rather than general number) and the name display. And then when I select all the cells (date and data) and tell it to sort, it'll sort on the date column just fine. I can even right click and it'll sort oldest to newest or vice versa.

I've never had this problem before; it's a function I've used all the time. Could a bug this big really have gotten through test? I'm going to try quitting out and re-starting, on the theory that maybe some wires got crossed somewhere.

Excel. An evil necessity. Lotus 123 was (is?) much better.

I have to demonstrate a passing knowledge of it and the other Microsh*t products in a couple of weeks time so I don't have to take 3 (mislabled) MIS courses at Sac State.

Only my...let's see...up to 20 years' experience with the products will be my guide.

I tested out of Excel and Windows for my paralegal certification, just using common sense and experience. It was a breeze!! I know you'll do fine.
