The Long and the Short (of writing)

Jun 30, 2014 18:48

So June 30th is the last day for people who participated in National Novel Writing Month to submit and get free copies of their stories. Happily, I did manage to get it in with an entire day to spare, primarily by virtue of me writing like a madwoman late into Sunday morning. I am not joking when I say that I probably managed to write something ( Read more... )

Thank you. I just wish I could motivate myself to write like that BEFORE I near deadline. Then maybe I could try to polish up the final product more.

Still, this project is mainly for myself anyway (it would take SO much editing to get this particular story into any sort of publishable form), so I'm content.

Congratulations on completing NaNoWriMo! I am in awe of anyone who can do this :)

And after a break to recharge my writing batteries, I'll be back to writing some Hornblower fanfiction.
Yay! I'll look forward to it!

I don't know if you should necessarily be in awe. I mainly manage to "win" National Novel Writing Month because of sheer bloody-mindedness and a determination to make deadline. That's less "awe-inspiring" and more "stubborn cuss."

But thank you anyway! It was an interesting project this time around, so I'm glad it came out decently.

And I'm looking forward to writing the Hornblower fic! Playing with Horatio is always fun.

Stubborness has it's own virtues :) I still think it's an amazing achievement.

Playing with Horatio is always fun.
Well I'm certainly not going to argue with that....

Congrats on making the deadline! And, y'know, on writing 50,000 words of story in the first place!

And, yay for more Hornblower fanfic! Because there always needs to be more Hornblower fanfic (says she who never manages to write/edit/post even 50-word stories, let alone 50,000-word ones)!

Thanks a lot. I've done it for five years now, and I love to use it as an excuse to get certain story ideas out of my head/go outside my writing comfort zone.

I, too, agree there needs to be more Hornblower. But I'm just as happy to have readers who appreciate my Hornblower fic/Hornblower fic in general. Fellow fic contributions are welcome but totally not necessary.
