I understand your English just fine. English is not my first language either, so everything you say will probably make perfect sense to me :p

What Jared did was definitely terrible, but he really is trying to fix it, like you said. It won't change what he did, but it might make it easier for them both to deal with. And I think your love theory is a great one ;)
