[Voice Post] Under the Weather

Nov 24, 2008 23:03

[There are random sniffles and sneezes, and his voice is a bit rough when he talks.]

Er... What's that food that they said in the 21st century was good for colds?

If I was back home I would just go to a bio-repair chamber... this place stinks.... [sniffles]

sick, winter, cold

Chicken noodle soup. Though the best thing is lots of fluids and rest, honestly.

Chicken noodle soup. Got it.

...I have to rest?

I guess no one's gonna force you but, yeah. Extra sleep will do wonders for fighting off a cold.

[sigh]

That's logical... But this will still probably last for a day or so, right? As opposed to a few hours?

Oh, Lyle! I'm sorry you're sick--soup and lots of fluids and rest. Have some tea with honey, too.

's okay, Cissie. I'll get over it soon enough. Teaches me to go outside not dressed properly, I suppose.

Tea? I've never made tea before.

...But I don't want to rest....

::laughs:: Poor Lyle. Tea is good--especially for sore throats. Requisition a tea kettle if you don't have one, and some tea bags--and honey! Herbal teas are really good for colds--I like lemon, myself. Then you just boil some water in the kettle and pour it in a mug with the tea bag and stir in some honey until you like the taste.

...That doesn't sound too hard...

Okay, I'll give it a try [coughs] Thanks Cissie.

Are you okay? You're not dying, are you?

...Should I get you a doctor?

[Pause, then laugh ended with some garbled coughs]

No. No, I'm not dying, Perseph. It's just a fever and some chills, with coughing and sneezing.

I don't need a doctor, don't worry.

...

...

So this is normal?

[Voice] invisikid November 27 2008, 04:26:55 UTC
Normal enough to be dubbed the "common cold." [chuckle]

Mortals get sick fairly often, its just the way our bodies react to microscopic threats.

For instance a fever is when our immune system attempts a neutralization of a bacteria or viruses, such as the rhinoviruses that cause what I'm feeling. The chills I have are a byproduct of it. But my temperature also runs naturally high so it probably seems worse then it is.

Ugh, sorry, Lyle. Sick sucks. Looks like you're getting good advice, though. Anything I can do to help?

...And when do I get to meet your new friend? ::grin::

Especially with such limited technology. Things like this never last long back home. But here there's all this "rest" business.

Don't worry about it. I doubt there's anything you could--

[poorly hidden blush]

......Oh. Er. Whenever you'd like to, I guess... I was thinking of stopping by Duo's surprise party later with him, so if you're going to that... [embarrassed cough that turns into real ones after a moment]

Poor Lyle, caught in a temporal backwater.

I'm going to see if I can make it. I'll, um. Be bringing Cissie. We're going to be going--you know--together. ::furious blushing::

I deducted something like that would happen.
