Quinn wasn't nervous exactly, although the more time that went by, the more she thought this might not have been the best idea. He'd been perfectly nice to her, but he'd tried to burn someone's house down and she couldn't force that thought out of her head no matter how hard she tried. Besides, he was exactly the kind of guy she'd have tormented if he went to McKinley
( ... )
Simon jumped, though he was quick to smile to acknowledge her presence. "It's okay," he reassured her, standing up. "I don't mind waiting."
To be honest, he almost hadn't expected her to show up. He was glad she had, but that didn't stop the surprise. He almost expected her to just walk out again, although she'd done nothing to indicate she'd be that cruel to him.
Sparing a glance at his coffee, Simon pushed it to one side. It was wasteful, but it was cold by now. There didn't seem much point in drinking it at this point. "I'm just..." he motioned vaguely at the counter, looking up at her nervously after a moment of hesitation. "Do you want anything?"

Honestly, Quinn had considered blowing him off. It wasn't like she needed one more complication in her life, even if it was just a friend. Because her track record (with friends, acquaintances....people in general) was awful. But then she'd sort of figured she had nothing to lose. After all, once this vacation was over, the likelihood that she would ever see him again was slim.
Following the movement of his hand to the counter, and then up to the menu, she chewed on her bottom lip for a moment before finally nodding. "I wouldn't say no to a hot chocolate. I sort of thought it would be warmer today."
