Title: "Customary Strangeness"
Disclaimer: Being a bloke who likes to slash pretty men doesn't make me RTD, I don't work for the BBC, and as much as I might like to, I don't own Jack or Ianto or any part of Torchwood. I do, however, order pizza under that name on principle.

Should have known this one was you. Off my game, I was.

I'm not sure I can hear Ianto saying "weirdness"-- doesn't seem like a Iantoish (an Iantoish?) word. That's almost certainly just me *shrug*. Other than that, I just kind of wished there were more... something to it. Not sure what. (Yeah, I know- real helpful, right?

Cowbell, perhaps? ;)

Admittedly, this one wasn't very deep and was all about the punchline. I hadn't thought about "weirdness" not being a very Ianto-flavored word. I may have to muse on that a bit.

Thanks for the feedback!

Why do I keep squeaking when I read your fic? I suspect a plot on your part. *peers suspiciously*

Ah me, I remember going on Calennig when I was young - although we never had fancy stuff like that! Not that we ever got that much, but it was the thought that counted.

And Mari Lwyd? Two words: scared and stiff, although that might have been because we had a very imaginative leader with a way with words and a bloody terrifyingly realistic Mari Lwyd.

Hmmmm, you may have started something brewing...

My friend John's response to me telling him about the Mari Lwyd was, "Oh my god. I love the Welsh. I need a skull."

Really, any tradition that encourages wassail-type home invasion, tests of wit, and drinking sounds like a good time.

I liked this!

I do remember thinking, during voting, that it lacked a little bit of oomph-- but I suspect that's partly cultural. I didn't know anything about Calinneg or Mari Lwyd until I read the footnotes; if I had, the punchline would have definitely deserved a giggle. XD It got one the second time around, at least.

Are you Welsh?

Yeah, it's one of those punchlines that's not as funny if you don't know what these two things are, but if you explain the joke ahead of time you lose the surprise.

I suppose that's the beauty of an optional round. You can take crazy risks and get away with it!

Hooray for optional rounds!

And ooh, speaking of WIAD, new stories are up... *wanders off to read*
