Title: Adam (Part 6/6)
Disclaimer: Being a bloke who likes to slash pretty men doesn't make me RTD, I don't work for the BBC, and as much as I might like to, I don't own Jack or Ianto or any part of Torchwood. I do, however, order pizza under that name on principle.
Pairings: Jack/Ianto, and maybe a bit of Owen/Gwen if you squint.

I think his reasoning is that it would make the transition easier, and minimize error on his part. It's easier to be disoriented and not remember if you're actually disoriented and amnesiac. And since we know that Retcon is generally temporary if you're in an environment that would trigger recall, he'd have faith that it's not a permanent loss, and that he could remember and process later.

What else did you find confusing?

Ianto did nothing wrong, no. But the rest of the team have oscillated wildly between treating Adam as though he were Ianto through to just treating him as an object, and cold-shouldering him. If Ianto pretends to be away (and the Retcon erases memories of not being away), then the rest of the Team can forget how they behaved towards Adam.

Basically he's saving Gwen, Owen and Tosh from awkwardness and embarrassment that might degrade the efficient operation of the team. That make sense?

WOW. You really managed to pull this together, and my god, it was Ianto all along. Should've known. Poor love.

VERY good.

Hehehehehe-- Sorry. *ahem*

Was wondering where this had got off to! Glad to see it. Although I think Ianto is not quite right in his assessment that they all did the "right thing"--as he points out, he owes Jack a good strangling.

Did he want to be retconned so the team wouldn't know it was Ianto all along and feel bad about the way they'd treated him? I wasn't sure I understood that part completely.

I loved the whole story and can't wait to see the next thing you come up with!

That's what I thought too.

Yep. The Retcon job is to create a plausible cover story, and to help Ianto act the part until the situation is less raw and new. He's less likely to slip up if he doesn't actually remember.
