It was shortly after 10:00PM and he lay awake in bed.

"Where could she have gone? Why would she leave?" he thought anxiously with little hope for an answer.

it may be depressing, but hell it is good.

bad thing about short stories; always leave a strong desire for more.

Well I appreciate that you enjoyed my story, despite how depressing it is. I agree that short stories do have a tendency to leave something to be desired, but what I find is my favorite thing about short stories is the ability to have an impact and tell a great story with so few words. I purposely use vaguity in my stories to add a bit of embedded empathy, making it easier for the reader to relate and fall into the story despite it's length. I also enjoy leaving the end with a bit of quick closure. I don't know if you've read any of my other shorts, but "Runaway" and "The Stop" also have similar composition.

I completely agree. With a long sory its harder to be ambiguous as a reader expects to know the finer details, which also make a lot of the story itself.

I loved this because although I say I would have wanted you to continue you're right something so short makes it easier to relate to and an abrupt ending just adds to the story.

I'v only written one thing on livejournal so far, and thats not even finished =P.
