I just want to get the word about about these organizations and hope that something good and productive happens for a change, instead of the typical pattern of bitching and then forgetting when the next sexy new drama comes along.

I really applaud you for the work you're doing getting the word out here and on Facebook. I feel like the only person on the planet who didn't follow this court trial, but the recent response from people has just boggled my mind. Especially concerning something so inane as turning on a porch light for a dead girl.

I didn't follow the court trial, but my mom and best friend have been pretty obsessed with it. I didn't have the time or energy given that I've been working with abused children myself. (The interesting part is that I'm apparently great with kids, but I'm still not a big kid person and would rather not have them around. I'm damned sure not going to let them be harmed if I can prevent it though.)

My Facebook feed was just inundated with update after update of outrage, as if this whole case was just completely shocking and she's the only child something like this has happened too, completely ignoring the plight of countless other children, most of which don't make even the local news because they're Hispanic or black or white but poor. It's ridiculous.

And to then see these people who were calling for blood and saying that something must be done decide that the best course of action is to turn their porch light on... Seriously, that's the best they could come up with? They're good and well meaning people, I'm sure, but that only
