Survived the eye doctor visit. Did not get seen until an hour and a half after my scheduled appointment time and am out $266 (plus another $200 that insurance is supposed to cover). Got a new prescription (he says my eyes are getting better!) and some new frames ( Read more... )

Answer to your ruler question: No, I don't think they show metric, unless it's a special type of ruler, i.e., imported drafting one. They don't teach standard over there. Mind you I've only seen the small girly plastic ones first hand which are about 15 cm long. This size might be standard in school though since the average Japanese pencil case isn't very big.

Yes, 'twas me~! I'm so glad you're checking them out. If you do really get into it, there's a Livejournal community dedicated to discussing the books (which Megan Whalen Turner has admitted to reading periodically!) called Sounis.

Hope you like it. Now I'm all anxious that you might not. By the by-- I liked Queen of Attolia the best. It was the most complex, I think, and it's the more romantic of the three.
