Butler is one of my favorite authors whom I never ever read. I adore her books beyond belief, but every time I think about picking up one I go "Wait - am I at that perfect mood right now where the book will neither ruin the happy mood nor give me depressed nightmares for a week?" and I'm never at that balance point.

But I think about them often. They're easier in recollection.

Ooh. Adding Earthseed to my to-read list.

B.T.W. if you're looking for another believable dystopia, try Ship Breaker, by Paolo Bacigalupi.

Just watched BSG, the first half of season four and think I need some depression medication. These both sound good but should I wait and put something more light before I tackle these?

The Parables books are pretty grim at times, so if that kind of thing depresses you, you might want to wait until you're in the mood for more jackbooted oppression and tragedy.
