I agree the picture is confusing. I can guess it's John and his two hearts, I'm very interested that one is so much smaller than the other, maybe from when the baby mummy was created. But... A dark haired Ozarker girl curtsying to a funky plant...? kind of lost me. Maybe the whole thing is Brother Randolph related?
By the way, wow, what kind of tale is "steal folks stuff and if they do something about it kill em" ? Granted most old tales are like that but it surprised me that it's about an Ozarker not a bad foreigner doing that.
Very good chapter though!
A mullet? You picture Archie with a Mullet!?! It's kind of hard to read his parts with that image in my mind. ;)

Well, the Ozarker was stealing stuff from a foreigner (and an "Injun" at that) so I guess they thought it was justified. ;)
*face palm* yep, realized that right away, had to go to email to verify and came back without logging in.
So it's illustrations of the Ozark tale characters (we've heard of). Makes sense I didn't make a connection because Troublesome wasn't really in the chapter. You're going to need to write a "Beedle the Bard" style book of Ozark tales if you don't quit teasing us with all this great lore. bellanca
Hmmm, nice chapter, but raises more questions than it answers. I for one, don't see how the story can end in 3 more chapters. It feels like there is still quite a bit to go. Its both refreshing and a bit annoying really. I am expecting a great surprise to how the story ends.
It really feels Alex has grown a lot in this book (or maybe I am as fed up as she is with all the liars so her arguments seem more reasonable?). Alex is developing her own Thorn Circle, isn't she? With her old friends and the new additions (to an extent Torvald and Stewart too), she has a group of 7-9 people who are really on her side. So far this book has been a great ride, but I might jump on what a poster above said. Not that many questions being answered. I would have liked to see more inside of the Confederation-workings but I suppose we are limited by Alex's view. Also, really interesting to see sexuality in the wizarding world with Livia and Sonja.
So nothing much happened in this chapter, it's just a transition to whatever will come next. And it will involve that Indian thingie. It also prepares us for however she is going to trick it. I hope we see a bit of our favorite characters before the end of the book - AT, Grimm sisters, and C& F.
I like Livia a lot for some reason. In fact, I like all Thorn's daughters. Alexandra is really growing up.
Miss Shirtliffe is another character with a background I look forward to you revealing. She certainly seems to have Alex's number!

So, obviously this was not my most inspired chapter illustration. That's supposed to be Troublesome.
