Also, you should read the companion novel, The Drowned Cities. It's infinitely better than Ship Breaker (and that's saying something.)

I really did love Ship Breaker(even though I found it while looking to see if I had an Original Idea - sadly, no.) Drowned Cities and Windup Girl are all in the same post-peak oil universe, so it was nice to see the worldbuilding fleshed out in an adult novel.
