The InuYashaxKagome Missing Moments Celebration Fic and Art Contest
This is the second of the special projects we're announcing here at inuyashaxkagome in celebration of the end of the manga. As you know, the first is our reread. The second is a fic and art contest that challenges you to "fill in the blanks" in Kagome and InuYasha's story. There will be two fic contests- one for anime watchers and one for manga readers. There will be one art contest, although if we have enough entries, I'll go ahead and split that into two as well.
The theme of this challenge is Missing Moments, and you can see more on what exactly that means below.
So without further ado- the rules, requirements, and suggestions for this challenge:
1. Fanfiction must be labeled in this manner:

2. Fanfiction can be posted to the community (behind an LJ-cut). You may also link to your posting of it on your personal journal, a writing journal, fanfiction.net, or any other fanfic archive. If you do so, please make note in the actual story (as it appears on ff.net) that this is an entrant for the livejournal "InuYashaxKagome Missing Moments Celebration" challenge. Once you have completed your story, reply to THIS post with the link to where it is plugged on this community.
3. This is in essence a one shot challenge, but longer stories are welcome as well. If you do write a chaptered-fic though, they must be complete by the deadline.
4. Stories and art submitted cannot have been posted before 6/17/08, the day the last chapter of the manga came out. If you have art or fic you created after 6/17 but before this contest was posted, you may enter it.
5. Fanfiction and fanart will be judged by member vote. Comments will be screened, and all members are allowed to vote. You cannot vote for yourself.
6. The word count should be no less than 500 words.
7. NC-17 art/fics are not allowed for this particular challenge. This is due to this community not being marked as one that supports mature content. We want all of our under eighteen fans to be able to participate in this contest as well, and we don't want to risk the wrath of the LJ-TOS. Sexual innuendo, and limes (aka non-explicit intercourse) are okay though. Fanart cannot be anything that would not be allowed in a PG-13 movie. If you have any questions about this, please ask us. We will answer as soon as possible. Characters/Pairings/Genre are totally up to the writer.
8. The theme of this contest is Missing Moments. Ideally we're here to celebrate the end of the series and the conclusion of InuYasha and Kagome's story. However, we understand that not every fic writer or fanartist follows the manga. Because of that, the contest is going to be divided into two categories-
1-Chapters 1-356 or "Animeverse"- This is for members who have followed the series only through the anime or the Viz release of the manga. The contest is capped at chapter 356 because that's the last chapter the anime adapted into an episode. You must not use any content past 356/episode 167.
Your Story/Art Must Either:
1-Portray a "missing InuKag" moment you feel might have occurred during those episodes/chapters (1-356 of the manga, 1-167 of the anime).
2- Portray something you feel might have happened/you want to happen post those episodes. This can be anything- a future fic/piece of art, something that happened directly post Ogre's Rock, etc.
2-Chapters 357-558 or "Mangaverse"-This is for the members who are caught up on the series and have read the last chapter, which came out last week.
Your Story/Art Must Either:
1-Portray a "missing InuKag" moment you feel might have occurred during those episodes/chapters (357-558). There's a lot we didn't see in 558 especially, so this should be ripe for inspiration!
2- Portray something you feel will happen in the future. This can be anything- a future fic/piece of art, something that happens directly Tomorrow, etc.
This challenge does not allow alternate universe fanfiction/fanart. Sorry! We know it's a popular concept, but it doesn't really fit the theme we're going for here. If you have a specific question as to what constitutes a missing moment, please ask! The contest is fairly free for all so the chance is far better than not your idea works within the rules. Do ask if you're unsure though.
9. You may submit just one story/piece of art. You cannot enter both the 1-356/anime and the 357-558 contests. You may enter both the fic and art contests though.
We do not anticipate that we will have enough artwork to break it up into the two contests. Nonetheless, in case we do (and it would be fantastic if we did), make sure it is labeled Animeverse of Mangaverse. We'll break it into two categories if we have at least five pieces in each one (same goes for fics). If we do not have enough fic for each contest, we'll have to mush them together into one as well.
10. The first place winners in all categories will receive a prize in a gift certificate of their choice- amazon.com, livejournal, cdjapan, or itunes. Runners up will receive personalized award banners.
The deadline for this contest is SUNDAY AUGUST 31ST AT MIDNIGHT CST. That gives you two months. Please have your entries in by then.
